The or man Garden was established in the times of of "khedive Ismail" in 1875 to provide the royal palaces with fruit. All kinds of orange, apricot, blackberry and palm tree were brought from Europe. Princes started to introduce some of the foreign plants from their private gardens to the or man garden such as the coffee and cinnamon trees, and some aquatic plants. The garden is 28 feddans in size.
It has green houses for plants and several specialized gardens for flowers and cactus there is a park for children.
It has a department for the exchange of seeds with scientific research centers around the world.
